   ABOUT

Co-hosted by Patagonia and the CREA Mont-Blanc, Running Wild is a trail run open to all, to reconnect with the wilderness around our local trails and learn more about alpine life that thrives there.

This 5 kilometre loop (250d+) leads us onto familiar trails — but invites us to see them through fresh eyes. In front of us, the Mont Blanc: not just a majestic backdrop for an evening run, but also an open-air research lab. With nearly 4,000 metres of vertical drop before us, we can observe all the alpine zones in a single glance, each one home to remarkable flora and fauna.

Along the way, we’ll slow down to look, listen, and learn. We'll explore how these ecosystems interact and evolve — shaped over time by the forces of climate change and human presence.

______

Founded in 1996, CREA Mont-Blanc is a research centre dedicated to alpine ecosystems. Based in Chamonix, the team of 12 full-time staff studies mountain flora and fauna, and their response to climate change. With over two decades of experience, CREA has been a leading force in citizen science – inviting locals and visitors alike to take part in understanding and protecting the fragile life forms that call these mountains home.
